Frozen shoulder syndrome is a common condition but also one of the most poorly understood shoulder conditions.

It is defined as “a condition characterized by functional restriction of both active and passive shoulder motion.”

Frozen shoulder syndrome effects 2% to 5% of the general population.

It occurs usually between 40 and 60 years of age, and is 3 to 7 times more prevalent in women than men.

By the way, stick with me thru this video to the end, and I’ll share with you a link to other great articles about health related topics.

Frozen shoulder syndrome diagnosis can be either primary, if there is no history of causative factors, or secondary when frozen shoulder syndrome is thought to develop following some trauma or systemic condition such as diabetes, Parkinson disease, cardiovascular disease, thyroid disease, and stroke.

Common medical treatment of frozen shoulder syndrome consists of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroid injection and shoulder surgery.

Interventions frequently used by physical therapists include moist heat, ultrasonography, passive stretching, and shoulder mobilization.

Patients may experience some relief when treated by these various methods, while others suffer from residual pain and reduced shoulder function even several years after treatment.

A study of 50 patients with frozen shoulder syndrome receiving chiropractic adjustments showed promising results.

Of the 50 patients, 16 showed 100% improvement, 25 showed 75% to 90% improvement, 8 showed 50% to 75% improvement, and 1 showed 0% to 50% improvement.
