A recent report revealed emulsifiers disrupted intestinal bacteria in mice causing inflammation and weight gain.

In humans, emulsifiers potentially increase risk for inflammation, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, weight gain, obesity, insulin insensitivity, and diabetes.

Emulsifiers are detergent-like molecules that can break down the thick mucous layer of your intestines and allow bacteria to penetrate the inner linings.

Your immune system responds by producing chemicals to kill germs and prevent infections.

This overactive immunity, or inflammation, may be responsible for the increase in inflammatory bowel diseases, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease that has occurred in the last 70 years.

Emulsifiers are also found in numerous prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

They are used to improve the consistency of gel capsules, make pills dissolve in the stomach, and keep medication suspended in liquid form.

Eating foods as they are found in nature, including organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans and seeds, and restricting processed foods with added chemicals will keep you on the path to a healthy and happy life.
