The U.S. Surgeon General’s Report shows that substance abuse, including alcohol abuse is skyrocketing.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), alcohol poisoning kills six people every day.
Alcohol consumption may also lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and cancer.
By the way, stick with me thru this video to the end, and I’ll share with you a link to some other great articles about alcohol consumption and other health related topics.
New research shows that as your body processes alcohol, a transient toxic compound is produced that attacks DNA.
This DNA damage increases your risk for seven types of cancer, including breast and bowel cancer.
Exercise, like alcohol releases dopamine, a brain chemical associated with rewarding behaviors.
Experiencing this ‘feel good’ chemical from exercise, may reduce your desire for alcohol and may help those who are dependent to lessen their cravings.
Supplements such as vitamin C, vitamin B, magnesium, milk thistle and N-acetyl cysteine, may also reduce the negative effects of drinking small amounts of alcohol.
Knowing that alcohol’s impact on your body starts from the moment you take the first sip might make you want to rethink that glass of wine, beer or cocktail before dinner.
